Sheikh Khalifa Sports City, Isa Town
Sheikh Khalifa Sports City comprises a 20,000 capacity football stadium, a multi-sports hall and a covered swimming pool complex that serves as headquarters to the Bahrain Swimming Association.
The stadium was originally designed and built by UK contractor George Wimpey and opened with great fanfare in 1968 with a visit from the England Amateur International football team.
The refurbishment and new 3,600 capacity grandstand project was completed in the late 2000s with a further pitch and floodlighting upgrade in 2011.
Baker Wilkins & Smith’s local office provided a full pre- and post-contract quantity surveying service on the new grandstand, multi-sports hall, swimming pool complex and pitch/floodlights upgrade.
