Historic Buildings

Uppark House

After being destroyed by fire, The National Trust restored this Elizabethan mansion using mainly traditional materials and working methods. BWS provided a full cost management service including negotiations with the loss adjuster and solicitors.

HM Tower of London

We provided the cost management on a variety of schemes at the Tower including the replacement of the 1960’s PSA tarmac surfacing with traditional granite setts.

Hampton Court Palace

Projects at the Palace included many internal restoration schemes and improvements to visitor facilities, including the Tudor Kitchens presentation and the reversion of Base Court from the mainly grassed areas to granite pavers.

Waddesdon Manor

We have provided reconstruction cost estimates for over 200 historic buildings, including Waddesdon Manor, Alexandra Palace and Goodwood Estate. Clients include The National Trust, The National Trust for Scotland and English Heritage.

Kensington Palace

Projects at the Palace included many internal restoration schemes and external improvements, despite the complexities of replacing mechanical and electrical services within historic buildings and complying with modern regulations.

Earthquake Study

We took part in a detailed study of historic buildings in Cairo to determine their resistance to earthquakes and what needed to be implemented to increase this to the maximum level without undue intervention into the historic structure.
